Welcome to Ally: Verb

Because of recent anti-LGBTQ+ backlash, we’ve lost the funding that keeps Ally:Verb free and online. These training modules may disappear soon. If this content has helped you—or you want others to have access—please chip in to help us keep it live.

Note: This is not a tax-deductible donation, but every bit helps.

About the Ally:Verb Training

In  today's world, Ally is a verb not a noun. It is a series of ongoing actions that we take to show up, show care,  advocate, and to be there for LGBTQ+ youth in our lives. Ally is not something we do once.  Ally is  something we intentionally commit to doing.

The Ally: Verb training series contains  research-informed tools, relationship building strategies, and resources to build your ally skills.  Modules will help you build  awareness of the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ youth and to understand the impact of  anti-LGBT legislation on the current generation of young people growing up today.

The training series also gives you tips and activity ideas to help you  encourage assets of PRIDE in LGBTQ+ young people (Possibilities, Resiliences, Identity, Development, and Engagement).

Each module can be completed in under 30  minutes. Though  you may also want to spend time becoming more familiar with suggested  resources, links, and organizations. You are also encouraged to take time to reflect on what you are learning and explore how to intentionally  integrate Ally: Verb practices into your own interactions with LGBTQ+ youth.

The easiest way  is to use the subscribe button on this page.  Once you subscribe, you will be notified each time a new module is released. You will also hear more about upcoming events and news.

Mentorist can work closely with your program to provide  individualized training and coaching. In addition to the free Ally: Verb training, we also  facilitate  LGBTQ+ Ally training cohorts, conduct program assessments and evaluation, and provide coaching for organizations that want to delve more deeply into LGBTQ+ youth inclusion. Please reach out to see how we can support you in your change efforts.

I would like to give special thanks to  Oregon CASA Network on the development of this resource. OCN  is strengthening CASA programs across Oregon that provide much needed advocacy and support for children who have experienced abuse.  I would also like to thank my colleagues and friends who offered to review, share feedback and are helping to get the word out about this resource.
